Hong Kong Observation Wheel & Victoria Harbour from Man Kwong Street

This drone shot is of the Hong Kong Observation Wheel with a view of Victoria Harbour. To get to where I launched the drone, take a taxi or drive to either Central Ferry Pier number 7 or IFC Mall. Walk over to the launch point (follow the GPS coordinates) from either of the two spots. The GPS will lead you to a bus station (Central Ferry Piers) off of Man Kwong Street. There will be a direct line of sight to the back of the Hong Kong Observation Wheel from here. It's also a safe spot to launch as the use of drones is prohibited at the side of the harbor.

All months of the year are suitable to photograph the Hong Kong Observation Wheel.

Visit this place when the sun starts to set — creating a warm pink glow in the sky. The view looks directly at the point where the sun rises from, so a sunrise shot would look great, too.

Before flying your drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements.

When flying your drone, be careful of the buses passing along the road nearby.

Try and frame the Hong Kong Observation Wheel in the middle of your shot to create a sense of symmetry in the photo.

Use the horizon as a focal point for the center of your shot and try to equally divide the sky and harbor with the horizon.

Grab a beer at Beer Bay (Pier 3) or some fish and chips from Pier 7.
