Designed by the late Zaha Hadid, this flowing array of white concrete staircases is great for portraits!

The featured image is of a staircase inside Jockey Club Innovation Tower. The building is on the campus of Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design — you can’t miss it. Once inside, navigate to the back and you’ll find a staircase spiraling up several floors. I recommend walking up 3 levels. By Bus: - Bus number: N118 - Closest bus station: Chatham Road North Livestock Depot - Cross the street - Walk along Chatham Road South - Enter Hong Kong Polytechnic University Jockey Innovation Tower Address: The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design, Hung Hom, Hong Kong

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Mid-day
You can photograph within the Innovation Tower all months of the year.
The campus generally shuts down around 10pm so I recommend visiting before then. Less students will be walking along the staircase early in the morning and around 9pm.

Field tips

By using a wide-angle lens (17mm) you’ll be able to frame both your model and the beautiful stairway architecture.
This staircase has lots of lines and varying texture. Experiment with your model; have them stand up, sit down, sprawl across — get creative!
I chose to photograph my model low to the ground which created a nice vanishing point in the middle of my image.
