Whampoa Mall & Whampoa Garden Residential Buildings Look Down

Reference the GPS coordinates when you exit the subway station and you'll find where I stood. Fly directly up and north for this view once you've launched your drone. The Whampoa Mall and Whampoa Garden residential buildings can be photographed during any month of the year.

Morning, midday and late afternoon should provide similar lighting conditions, but make sure to check the weather beforehand — this area can be very smoggy.

Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations.

This is a busy area with a fair amount of drone interference from the surrounding buildings — take special care when flying. The courtyard opposite has a clear line of sight with the ship and will be the safest place to fly directly up without losing connection.

Try to incorporate some of the red cab cars if you can. Their bright hue will add some character to the shot.

Other than this view, I also suggest flying higher and shooting from a bird's eye perspective.

Go inside The Whampoa Mall and check out the shops and dining options.

You can also visit the Kerry Hotel, which is not too far down the harbour. It's a nice spot to grab a drink and watch the boats go by along the water.
