When to go
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
Findlay Road on The Peak can be visited, and photographed, during any month of the year.
If you're there in the summer, it can get really hot so make sure to dress accordingly and bring along water and sunscreen.
Even though I shot this during midday when it was overcast and foggy, I think that this location is best to visit early in the morning when there are less people along the trail.
It can get very crowded during sunset, which will make it difficult to capture a shot with an isolated subject.
Field tips
Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes. You can make this trip to The Peak as long or as short as you'd like, but since there's a decent amount of walking involved, it's best to have on sneakers.
You're only chance of photographing a similarly misty and shadow-heavy photo is if you're visiting when it's foggy outside. Make sure to check the weather conditions if you want the same look.
I shot this with an iPhone, but if you're shooting with a camera, then I suggest using a wide-angle lens. When the lens is wider, it can help to accentuate the leading lines of the path and it'll create a more intriguing composition when you're able to incorporate the curve in the road.
The fog will move quickly so make sure to take as many photos as possible. The more fog you have in your shot, the more texture and depth you'll add to the forest.
Having a model along the path will bring some life to the photo, as well as add a sense of scale.

Do nearby
There are incredible views from the top of The Peak and while you're already so close, I recommend checking it out. In my opinion, the best perspective is if you head east for about half a mile from the Peak Power Station.
