Lugard Road Lookout view of Central Skyline & Victoria Harbour

Although this is one of the most famous views of Hong Kong's Central skyline and Victoria Harbour, it's a nice break away from some of the more touristy areas of The Peak. Stare out onto the vast landscape and experience the merge of land and sea high above ground level as you capture a captivating image.

This image of the Central skyline and Victoria Harbour was taken near the Lugard Road Lookout, which is in The Peak area of Hong Kong. The easiest ways to get to this location are by either taking the tram or by driving and then walking up Lugard Road for about 15-minutes from The Peak Galleria (22.270155, 114.149670). Once you reach the GPS coordinates, face east for this view. By tram: - Closest station: Peak Tower Station (via Garden Road Central - Peak Tower)

Tips

When to go

Best season

All months

Best time

Sunset
The Lugard Road Lookout view of the Central Skyline and Victoria Harbour can be photographed year round without many seasonal changes.
In my opinion, I think the lighting is best during sunset (4-6pm depending on the time of the year) because it won't be as bright as it is during the day.

Field tips

Use a wide-angle lens to get more of the landscape in your frame. For reference, I used a 35mm lens.
The road is narrow, so if your model appears too close to you, you can try standing up on the rocks so you're more elevated.
I think it looks best to have the model more in focus and the background softly out of focus.
Make sure to look at where the light is coming from and never shoot directly into the sunlight. Instead, use the light as a natural filter for your photos.

Do nearby

If you didn't take the tram on the way up, I highly recommend taking it down to get a different perspective of the pathway and landscape.
Victoria Peak Garden is one of the most serene places in Hong Kong. The well-kept green space is an ideal location for a quiet afternoon picnic and it's also another good photo location option!
