St. Florian Catholic Church overlooking Hamtramck

This drone shot was taken of the St. Florian Church, looking northwest onto the residential streets of Hamtramck. I launched my drone from the parking lot located at the corner of Latham Street and Florian Street, just near of the church. To get there, I recommend taking a ride share or driving.

To capture the snow covering the roofs of the houses, visit the St. Florian Catholic Church from November through March.

Before flying a drone, check and follow local drone regulations and permit requirements. In this area, it's illegal to fly your drone above 400 feet.

Be patient and wait for the falcon to enter into your frame. The falcon is well known in the area, so capturing him in your shot will add a local touch to the image.

Instead of facing south and having the city in the background, I was facing north and used the houses of Hamtramck as my backdrop. I wanted to give the photo a neighborhood vibe and capture the daily life from up above the area.

Because Hamtramck is so diverse, there are so many dining options to choose from — like Middle Eastern or Polish restaurants. My personal favorite in the neighborhood is Polish Village Cafe.
