When to go
Best season
June, July, August, September
Best time
Morning, Mid-day, Late afternoon
Although you can visit The Quiraing during any month, I recommend visiting in the summer to capture the purple flowers in the foreground of your shot.
The conditions were overcast when I visited, so you'll be able to get a similar image at any time of the day if it's cloudy.
If you want to capture a more dramatic landscape, it'd be best to visit early or late in the day when it's sunny and you can photograph the cross light and increased contrast and shadows.
Field tips
Due to the weather on the Isle Of Skye being so unpredictable you are advised to check the weather forecast before setting out on your adventures.
The trails can get very slippery if wet, so good hiking shoes and appropriate clothing to suit the conditions is essential.
Make sure to stand near the purple flowers. They'll bring some color into the photo, which is important given that the rest of the landscape isn't very colorful.
Try incorporating a few cars as they pass by along the road below the hills. It'll add an unexpected focal point to your shot.
If the day is overcast with low light you might consider taking a tripod so you can slow down your shutter speed without having to worry about handheld shaking.

Do nearby
One of my favorite things to see nearby is to visit the towering cliffs of Kilt Rock and the 55 m (180 ft) high Mealt Falls that plunge over the cliffs directly into the sea. Mealt Falls is a short 15-minute drive away, where I also have a location in the app — make sure to check it out!
