This straight façade offers a sneak peek into daily life in Singapore, beyond the tourist attractions. Look carefully to spot people walking by the corridors, the plants and clothes hanging from the windows, and of course, the red lanterns.

Best time
Late afternoon
This location is great for photography all months of the year – as long as it’s a sunny day!
Late-afternoon between 16:00 - 18:00 the lighting will be best (not too bright) and the sky may have nice colored hues. You can visit any day of the week.
Field tips
You are taking the photograph from a 17 level building and will be very close to the residents. Please be mindful and don’t make too much noise.
Choose a middle floor (between 8-10) so you can capture the height of the façade. I took several shots of the whole façade (not specific floors) and cropped down later in post-processing.
When framing the shot, ensuring the lines of the balconies are straight creates a straight façade effect (and simplifies your post-processing).
